Jayapura (ANTARA) - The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of Papua states that President Prabowo Subianto is distributing aid of 10 sacrificial cows to the people in Papua for the Idul Adha 1447 Hijriah celebration.
Acting Head of the Papua Provincial Agriculture Department, Lunanka Daimboa, in Jayapura on Thursday, said that of the 10 cows, one is allocated for the Papua Provincial Government and the other nine are distributed to regencies and cities.
“For this year, the sacrificial cow aid from the President totals 10 cows, one for the province and nine for the regencies and cities,” she said.
According to Lunanka, the selected sacrificial cows must meet the established criteria, namely having a weight above 800 kilograms.
“The sacrificial cows prepared are all local cows owned by breeders in Papua that have undergone a registration process by the relevant local departments,” she stated.
Lunanka explained that the data on the cows, including their weight and owners, has been sent to the presidential office through the special staff handling the sacrificial cow aid.
“In addition to from President Prabowo, this year the Papua Provincial Agriculture Department is also preparing five sacrificial cows sourced from the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD) and special autonomy funds,” she said.
She added that the provincial government through the Agriculture Department is very concerned with ensuring that the sacrificial animals consumed by the community are truly healthy and safe.
“For that reason, we will deploy a special team to the sacrificial animal sales locations to conduct stricter inspections to ensure the quality and safety of animal food products for the community,” she stated.
