Papua Provincial Government Distributes Aid to Biak Numfor Bomb Blast Victims

Jayapura - The Papua Provincial Government has distributed humanitarian aid to communities affected by the explosion of a World War II relic bomb at the Perikanan Complex, Fandoi Village, Biak Kota District, Biak Numfor Regency. Papua Vice Governor Aryoko A.F. Rumaropen stated in Jayapura on Monday that the assistance was provided as a gesture of the government’s concern for residents undergoing post-incident recovery. He detailed that the aid consisted of 60 sacks of 10-kilogramme rice, 90 kilogrammes of granulated sugar, 60 cartons of instant noodles, and 90 litres of cooking oil. All aid was channelled through the Papua Provincial Social, Population, and Civil Registration Office and received by representatives of the affected community. The Vice Governor expressed condolences over the incident and hoped those impacted would be granted strength and fortitude. He also affirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring residents’ basic needs remain a priority so that community activities can gradually resume. The regional government is present to provide moral and material support to those stricken by disaster, he added, expressing hope that the assistance would help meet daily needs during the recovery process. “The Papua Provincial Government will continue to be present amongst the community, especially during emergencies and disasters. The spirit of togetherness and mutual cooperation must be maintained to assist our brothers and sisters experiencing hardship,” he said.
