Papua Pegunungan's Red and White Front Condemns Armed Criminal Group Violence in Yahukimo
The Red and White Front (BMP) of Papua Pegunungan has condemned an act of violence allegedly carried out by an armed criminal group (KKB) against three civilians in Yahukimo Regency, Papua Pegunungan. BMP Papua Pegunungan Chairman Agus Huby stated in Wamena on Saturday that violence against civilians is unjustifiable as it contradicts humanitarian values and disrupts security in Papua Pegunungan. “Acts of violence against civilians are unjustifiable because they contradict humanitarian values, the law, and disrupt security and peace in Tanah Papua, especially in Papua Pegunungan,” he said. Meanwhile, BMP Jayawijaya Regency Chairman Hengki Heselo called on all elements of society to maintain unity, not be easily provoked by unverified information, and support the creation of a conducive security situation in Papua Pegunungan. “We also extend our deepest condolences to the families of the three victims who were killed by the KKB in Yahukimo Regency,” he said. As a form of social concern, BMP Papua Pegunungan and BMP Jayawijaya Regency distributed aid packages of basic necessities to residents in Wamena, Jayawijaya Regency. “This activity is a tangible manifestation of the organisation’s concern in helping the community and strengthening fraternal bonds amidst various challenges faced,” added BMP Papua Pegunungan Chairman Agus Huby. Previously, footage circulated on social media showing an act of violence allegedly committed by the KKB led by Kopi Tua Heluka near the Trans Papua Road, Seradala District, Yahukimo Regency, Papua Pegunungan. In the incident, three indigenous Papuan (OAP) civilians were reportedly killed after being accused of being police informants.
