Papua Governor: KDKMP Biak Numfor Part of National Economic Strategy
Papua Governor Mathius D Fakhiri stated that the presence of the Village/Locality Red and White Cooperative (KDKMP) in Warsansan Village, North Biak District, Biak Numfor Regency is a crucial part of building the community’s economic chain.
“On Saturday (23 May), we laid the foundation stone for the KDKMP outlet in Warsansan Village, North Biak District, Biak Numfor Regency. Therefore, I urge for the building to be completed swiftly,” he said in Jayapura on Sunday.
“All national strategic programmes provided by President Prabowo require only land, meaning the land remains in the community’s ownership,” he said.
He explained that the cooperative outlet built on a 1,000-square-metre plot would include a clinic, cooperative office, sales outlet, and a warehouse for storing community production.
“This warehouse must be integrated with what exists in North Biak,” he said.
He added that the cooperative would serve as a distribution hub for agricultural and plantation produce from residents to Biak City, supported by government-provided transport and business networks.
“Feel free to sell at the cooperative. It will be collected by the cooperative. That is the link, the business chain built by the government,” he said.
He also urged residents not to rely solely on the cooperative’s development but to strengthen local production sectors such as coconuts, mangoes, bananas, and guavas.
“We also stressed the importance of targeted development that is not merely based on the interests of officials or specific regions,” he said.
