Panwaslu and Police sign MOU
JAKARTA: The General Elections Supervisory Committee (Panwaslu) and National Police signed on Monday a Memorandum of Understanding over the establishment of district election supervisory bodies.
Committee deputy chairman Saut Sirait said both parties had agreed to select local police officers as district supervisors.
"We are running out of time as all general election supervisory committees across the country must be established before June 11," Saut told reporters.
The supervisory committee consists of six members elected from the community and three members from the police and Attorney General's Office. The line-up applies to the supervisory committee in lower administrative levels.
Muslim scholar Komaruddin Hidayat was elected the chairman of the supervisory committee. -- JP
