Pantura people demand roads

TANGERANG: Residents of nine districts in northern Tangerang Regency, grouped in the Pantura Development Center (PDC), have demanded the regency administration build them roads.

"The administration has been focusing on development in the southern part of the regency and neglecting our area," said PDC chairman Suhaimi Ismedi on Wednesday.

Established recently by several youth organizations, the PDC's first mission is to complete a study on the road access needed in the nine districts, and to give the results of the study to the administration.

The PDC hopes the regency will follow up with some road construction based on the study.

PDC member Surta Wijaya said areas of Teluk Naga district, Mauk district and Kronjo district had the potential to be turned into tourist destinations, while Kosambi district could become an industrial zone with the necessary infrastructure. However, these areas remain undeveloped because there is no road access to them. -- JP
