Pantai Kapuk fraud case
JAKARTA (JP): Attorney General Singgih has stated that his
office is currently preparing a lawsuit against 11 people for
their alleged involvement in the falsification of a reclamation
survey in Pantai Kapuk, a coastal area in West Jakarta.
Speaking at a hearing with members of the House of
Representatives on Tuesday evening, Singgih said that the 11
suspects include geology experts and executives of a company
which paid Rp 21 million (US$9,545) to hire the experts.
"They falsified the reports of the survey by cutting out a
signature of Badarudin, the chairman of Irrigation Research and
Development Center of the Ministry of Public Works, and pasting
it onto the report," Singgih said.
The original signature was cut out and attached to the
proposal, which was then photocopied so that it looked like a
copy of an original document approved by the related institution,
he said.
A dossier on the case is currently being prepared by the
Jakarta Prosecutor's Office, he said, adding that as soon as it
is completed it will be delivered to the court. (hhr)
