The Southern Coast Route or Pansela on Java Island can be utilised as an alternative for the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming journey. In addition to helping to ease traffic density on the North Coast Route (Pantura) and the Trans-Java Toll Road, Pansela also offers a travel experience with the panorama of the southern coast of Java Island.

“The Southern Coast Route can become an alternative homecoming journey for the public. In addition to helping reduce density on main routes such as the Cikampek area, this route also has very attractive tourism potential because it passes through the southern coastal areas of Java Island,” said Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo in a statement quoted on Wednesday (18/3).

The Southern Coast Route of Java Island stretches from Banten Province to East Java. With a length of more than 1,500 kilometres, this route crosses five provinces, namely Banten, West Java, Central Java, DI Yogyakarta, and East Java.

Along the Pansela route corridor, homecomers can enjoy various southern coastal tourism panoramas of Java Island. Starting from Rancabuaya Beach and Pangandaran Beach in West Java, Parangtritis Beach in DI Yogyakarta, to the Sendang Biru Beach area in East Java which serves as the gateway to Sempu Island.

The Minister of Public Works also assured the readiness of national road infrastructure so that public travel during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming and return flows can proceed smoothly, safely, and comfortably.

As part of enhancing the reliability of infrastructure in the Pansela corridor, the Ministry of Public Works has completed several preservation and rehabilitation works. One of them is the rehabilitation of the Cidahon Bridge on the national road section Cilaki–Rancabuaya in Garut Regency, West Java.

The rehabilitation of the 50.7-metre bridge was carried out by the Main Implementation Unit for National Roads (BBPJN) of DKI Jakarta–West Java, Directorate General of Highway Development since October 2025 and has been completed 100%. The rehabilitation work was carried out to improve the structural reliability of the bridge as well as the safety of road users.
