Panjang Harbour to serve as alternative crossing for 2026 Lebaran transport
Bandarlampung — Panjang Harbour in Lampung will continue to be optimised as an alternative ferry crossing during the 2026 Lebaran holiday transport period.
“During the 2026 Lebaran transport operation, there are a number of ferry crossings that complement the crossing from Merak Harbour to Bakauheni Harbour or vice versa,” said Jonter Sitohang, Head of Class II Land Transport Management Centre (BPTD) Lampung, in Bandarlampung on Monday.
He stated that one of the crossings to be optimised during the 2026 Lebaran transport period is Panjang Harbour, which on a daily basis functions as a logistics distribution port and serves import-export operations.
“Panjang Harbour will also be designated as a port to be used, as it is already included in the Joint Decree (SKB) concerning Road Traffic Management and Crossing Arrangements during the Holiday Period and Return Period for 2026 Lebaran Transport, but on an alternative basis,” he said.
He explained that based on operational plans and the optimisation of Panjang Harbour as an alternative ferry crossing, it will be used to facilitate the crossing of category 5B vehicles, namely medium-sized cargo vehicles five to seven metres in length, and motorcycles.
“It can be said that Panjang Harbour can be optimised if the crossing routes are very congested,” he said.
It is known that during the 2026 Lebaran transport period, the crossing from Panjang Harbour to PT Krakatau Bandar Samudra Harbour is planned to have two vessels in operation, available in contingency or alternative form.
There will be 68 vessels operating on the Bakauheni-Merak route, seven vessels operating on the Wika Beton-Ciwandan route, five vessels operating from Bakauheni-Ciwandan, and six vessels operating from BBJ Muara Pilu to BBJ Bojanegara.
