Panic as 6-Metre Python Attempts to Prey on Goat, Promptly Killed by Locals
A six-metre python was caught trying to prey on a goat in Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi. The snake, which was found in a goat pen, was promptly killed by local residents.
The incident occurred in Tolitoli village on Saturday afternoon (16/5). The snake initially caused panic among the goat owner.
“It was about 6 to 7 metres long and was found in the goat pen,” said a resident named Fahril to detikcom on Saturday (16/5/2026), as quoted by detikSulsel.
“It was caught while trying to eat a goat in the villager’s pen, so it was immediately killed,” he said.
Fahril mentioned that the snake put up a fight. However, the goat owner and other residents eventually managed to kill the snake.
“It fought back, but it was quickly subdued by the goat owner. Luckily, the goat wasn’t eaten because it was caught quickly,” he explained.
The snake’s carcass was briefly taken to the side of the main road. Residents passing by also stopped to see the size of the large snake.
“The snake was immediately thrown away and not sold. It was brought to the roadside but then discarded,” he concluded.
