Panglima Jilah summoned by Prabowo over forest fire handling

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Supreme Leader of the Pasukan Merah Tariu Borneo Bangkule Rajakng (TBBR), Panglima Jilah, was summoned by President Prabowo Subianto to the State Palace in Jakarta on Friday.

Panglima Jilah said the meeting was an opportunity to convey a number of recommendations regarding the handling of forest and land fires (karhutla), particularly in West Kalimantan.

“Mainly regarding forest and land fires, perhaps,” said Panglima Jilah before entering the State Palace.

He said he came with a team carrying data on communities affected by forest and land fires in the West Kalimantan region.

According to Panglima Jilah, the forest and land fire conditions in his area are not yet too severe. However, the smoke or haze caused by the fires is quite disruptive to the community, especially children’s health.

“Actually it is not that severe, but the haze is very disruptive, especially for the health of small children,” he said.

Panglima Jilah said he still has a number of other suggestions and recommendations to convey to the President, but did not detail them before the meeting took place.

“There will certainly be suggestions and recommendations,” he said.
