Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Supreme Leader of the Tariu Borneo Bangkule Rajakng (TBBR) Red Army, Panglima Jilah, has said that President Prabowo Subianto supports indigenous communities and shifting cultivators in West Kalimantan, including in the handling of forest and land fires (karhutla).

This was conveyed by Panglima Jilah after meeting President Prabowo at the State Palace in Jakarta on Friday. According to him, support for indigenous communities and the handling of forest and land fires formed part of the discussion during the meeting.

“He supports indigenous communities. Shifting cultivators are supported,” said Panglima Jilah after the meeting.

He said indigenous communities have a close relationship with nature and therefore share responsibility for protecting the environment, including monitoring land clearing and burning activities.

During the meeting, he also conveyed that President Prabowo has assisted in handling forest and land fires in West Kalimantan through the deployment of personnel.

According to Jilah, the President is also willing to support the addition of personnel to strengthen the handling of forest and land fires in the region.

In addition to the deployment of personnel, the government has prepared support in the form of additional helicopters and weather modification efforts to help tackle forest and land fires.

Panglima Jilah expressed hope that this support would strengthen the handling of forest and land fires while ensuring that indigenous communities remain involved in efforts to preserve the environment in West Kalimantan.
