Pangkoopsudnas Reveals Modernisation Homework for Air Force Bases, a Serious Concern
JAKARTA - The Commander of the National Air Operations Command (Pangkoopsudnas), Marshal Madya TNI Minggit Triwibowo, has revealed several tasks that the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) must complete as part of the main weapon system equipment (alutsista) modernisation programme.
One of the main focuses currently being pursued is the enhancement of facilities and infrastructure at several air bases to support the operations of new aircraft, including the Airbus A400M and Rafale fighter jets.
“Indeed, the modernisation of defence equipment and weaponry as a policy of the President is a serious concern for the Air Force Chief of Staff and all of us, including Kodau I as part of it,” said Minggit at the Antarikshe Sports Hall, Halim Perdanakusuma, East Jakarta, on Saturday (9/5/2026).
According to him, several main bases in the Air Region Command (Kodau) I area are currently being prepared to support the development of TNI AU air power.
“We have already received various types of aircraft such as the A400M, additions of Falcon, and many more aircraft to come. This requires improvements in facilities and infrastructure, as well as flight operational support,” he said.
In addition to Halim, Roesmin Nurjadin Air Base in Pekanbaru is also a priority because it is projected to become the operational base for Rafale fighter aircraft.
“With the arrival of the Rafale, which is currently in progress, not only facilities and infrastructure but also flight operational support itself, so we are giving very serious attention to supporting the programme there,” he emphasised.
Minggit added that developments are also being carried out at several other bases, such as Supadio Air Base in Pontianak, Raden Sadjad Air Base (RSA) in Natuna, Atang Senjaya Air Base, and Suryadarma Air Base in Kalijati.
“We hope that what has been programmed by the government and then emphasised by the Air Force Chief of Staff, we will support it to the maximum, so that with the arrival of this new alutsista, it becomes a very significant strength for the TNI Air Force,” he concluded.
