Pangdam XIV/Hsn continues building pioneer bridges for equitable development
Makassar (ANTARA) - Commander of Kodam XIV/Hasanuddin, Major General TNI Bangun Nawoko, is continuing to complete the construction of pioneer bridges to support President Prabowo’s programme for equitable development.
“This is our commitment through the construction of pioneer bridges in areas that still require connecting access,” said the Pangdam in a press statement in Makassar on Saturday.
He said his team had inspected the Perintis Garuda bridge over the Lamagara River in Wajo Regency, South Sulawesi. The bridge connects Anabanua Urban Village in Maniangpajo District with Macanang Urban Village in Majauleng District.
According to him, the construction of the Perintis Garuda Bridge is part of the strategic programme of President Prabowo Subianto entrusted to the Indonesian Army to accelerate equitable development, particularly in areas that require connecting infrastructure.
“This programme will continue to be implemented in South Sulawesi and Southeast Sulawesi, especially in areas that still need bridges as vital access for the community,” he said.
To date, he continued, Kodam XIV/Hasanuddin has built 133 Perintis Garuda bridges within its area of operations. In Wajo Regency specifically, seven bridges have been built through the programme.
The presence of these pioneer bridges, he added, is expected to open up public access while facilitating mobility for various activities, including economic, educational, agricultural and social activities.
The infrastructure development is also an effort to provide safer and more comfortable access for communities that previously faced limitations when crossing areas divided by rivers.
The Pangdam assessed that the sustainability of the bridges’ benefits depends not only on physical construction, but also on the community’s care in maintaining and looking after the facilities.
Therefore, he called on the public to jointly look after the Perintis Garuda bridges so that they can be used in the long term and continue to benefit residents.
The Pangdam explained that the construction of pioneer bridges will continue to be intensified as part of efforts to support government programmes while strengthening the state’s presence in meeting the basic needs of communities in areas that still require infrastructure access.
