Pangdam Jaya, Metro Jaya Police Chief and Jakarta Provincial Government Clean Rivers with Residents

Kodam Jaya, together with Polda Metro Jaya, the Jakarta Provincial Government and various elements of society, held a community service river clean-up simultaneously at 11 locations. The central activity took place at Kali Angke, in the Kalijodo area, Pejagalan Urban Village, Penjaringan District, North Jakarta. A total of 3,550 personnel were involved in the community service, which was held to welcome the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia. They came from the Indonesian National Armed Forces, the Indonesian National Police, regional government, agency staff, communities, volunteers and residents on Saturday (15/8/2026). In addition to cleaning rubbish and sediment to maintain the function of the river flow, the activity included tree planting as part of greening efforts and the distribution of aid to the community. The activity in Kalijodo was attended by Pangdam Jaya Lieutenant General TNI Deddy Suryadi, Metro Jaya Police Chief Commissioner General Asep Edi Suheri, and Regional Secretary of DKI Jakarta Province Uus Kuswanto. Together with residents, they took part in the community service and directly inspected the cleaning process of Kali Angke. Pangdam Jaya Lieutenant General TNI Deddy Suryadi said the community service was carried out simultaneously at 11 points and was expected not to stop at the momentum of the 81st anniversary of Indonesian independence, but to continue to be carried out regularly and to benefit the community. “On this morning’s occasion we are carrying out clean-up activities at 11 points, including in the Thousand Islands. Together with the TNI-Polri and all elements of society, we are carrying out this cleaning activity and will do it regularly,” said Lieutenant General TNI Deddy Suryadi. Meanwhile, Metro Jaya Police Chief Commissioner General Pol. Asep Edi Suheri emphasised the importance of togetherness in protecting the environment so that its benefits can be felt directly by the community, and that this community service is also in line with the Gerakan Indonesia ASRI (Aman, Sehat, Resik, dan Indah) initiated by President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto. “Hopefully this activity will be routine and continue to be carried out together to create environmental cleanliness, and hopefully it can also be felt by the surrounding community and of course the people of DKI Jakarta,” said Commissioner General Asep. Besides Kali Angke, the community service took place at 10 other points spread across Jakarta, the Thousand Islands, Tangerang, Bekasi, Depok and Tangerang Regency. The river cleaning is expected to help maintain smooth water flow and prevent the accumulation of rubbish, while supporting preparedness measures to face the potential El Nino. Through this activity, the synergy of Kodam Jaya, Polda Metro Jaya, the Jakarta Provincial Government and the community continues to be strengthened to build shared awareness in maintaining a clean, beautiful and tidy environment.
