Ternate (ANTARA) - Basarnas, through the Ternate SAR Office, has collaborated with BNPB, the North Maluku Provincial Government (Malut), and the Ternate City Government to deliver logistics aid to Batang Dua Island using the KN SAR 237 Pandudewanata ship.

The head of the Ternate Search and Rescue Office, Iwan Ramdani, contacted in Ternate on Tuesday, stated that the ship is carrying logistics aid from BNPB, the Malut Provincial Government, the Ternate City Government, and aid from the Ternate City BPBD, Wasana Sentra Bahagia Ternate, the Social Services Office, Harita Nickel, and other related agencies.

According to Iwan, North Maluku Governor Sherly Tjoanda Laos and Ternate Mayor M Tauhid Soleman have reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that all post-disaster handling processes are carried out swiftly and in a coordinated manner with district governments and related parties, such as TNI/Polri, Basarnas, BNPB, BPBD, BMKG, PUPR, Telkomsel operators, PLN, private sector entities, and volunteers.

As a result, the basic needs of the affected community can be met as quickly as possible so that conditions can return to normal.

Previously, Ternate Mayor Tauhid Soleman directly led a trip to Batang Dua Island along with the Ternate City Forkopimda team, as well as BNPB, BPBD, BMKG, the Social Services Office, and related agencies.

The Emergency Response Post for Handling the Ternate City Magnitude 7.6 Earthquake Disaster in North Maluku reported that, up to the sixth day, the number of evacuees in the Batang Dua Sub-district was 1,966 people from 568 families.

In addition, the evacuees are located in the Batang Dua Sub-district.

The Head of the Emergency Response Post for Handling the Earthquake Disaster in Ternate City, Rizal Marsaoly, stated that they are still evacuating because they remain traumatised by the earthquake that occurred in the waters between North Sulawesi and North Maluku on Thursday (2/4/2026) around 07:48 WIT, accompanied by an early tsunami warning issued by BMKG.

Rizal explained that six sub-districts in Ternate City were affected, but the most severely impacted area is Batang Dua Sub-district, as their region is very close to the earthquake’s epicentre.

“As a result, many residents’ houses have been reported to have sustained damage, as well as places of worship such as churches,” said the Post’s Head.
