Jakarta — Jakarta Metro Police are continuing their investigation into a case involving comedian Pandji Pragiwaksono’s “Mens Rea” performance through further questioning of experts and other witnesses.

“There are several questions that were posed which the reported individual did not answer, and that is his right, so investigators must pursue further questioning of other witnesses and parties,” said Jakarta Metro Police Public Relations Head, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday.

Budi added that the case remains in the investigation stage by the Jakarta Metro Police’s Criminal Investigation Division (Ditreskrimum).

Previously, Jakarta Metro Police had questioned 10 witnesses in the defamation case allegedly committed by comedian Pandji Pragiwaksono.

“Currently we have taken statements from 10 people, both witnesses and experts, relating to the substance of the content in question,” said Commander of the Criminal Investigation Division, Senior Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, during a press conference at Jakarta Metro Police headquarters on Tuesday (20 January).

Meanwhile, Pandji Pragiwaksono has completed his questioning by Jakarta Metro Police. During the clarification session, the comedian was posed 63 questions.

“We started at around 10:30 and there were 63 questions in total. We have just finished,” said Pandji’s legal counsel, Haris Azhar, when met at Jakarta Metro Police headquarters on Friday (6 February).

Haris explained that the questions posed by Jakarta Metro Police concerned personal data and event organisation. Additionally, several clips containing statements made by Pandji during the “Mens Rea” performance were displayed.
