PANDI and BSSN Discuss Strengthening National Cybersecurity
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Domain Name Registry (PANDI) held an audience with the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) to discuss strengthening cooperation in the field of cybersecurity, the protection of ‘.id’ domain names, and the resilience of Vital Information Infrastructure (VII).
“PANDI views the security of ‘.id’ domain names as a vital part of Indonesia’s cyberspace resilience. Therefore, synergy with BSSN needs to be continuously strengthened, both in the exchange of security information, the handling of domain name abuse, and the strengthening of national infrastructure,” said PANDI Chairman Isnawan in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.
The audience, which took place at the BSSN Office in Jakarta, was received directly by the Head of BSSN, Nugroho Sulistyo Budi, while the PANDI delegation was led by Chairman Isnawan.
During the meeting, PANDI presented developments regarding the Indonesia Domain Abuse Data Exchange (IDADX), the handling of domain name abuse, and concerns regarding the significant volume of ‘.id’ domain names that utilise infrastructure located abroad.
The discussions also highlighted the strengthening of the Registrar’s role through the formation and registration of Computer Security Incident Response Teams (CSIRT).
This step is expected to accelerate the exchange of information regarding threat trends and increase response capacity to cyber incidents within the ‘.id’ domain name ecosystem.
Furthermore, BSSN and PANDI discussed the importance of interdependence between Vital Information Infrastructures.
The mapping of relationships and dependencies between these sectors will be encouraged through the preparation of a National Interdependence Map for VII sectors, serving as a basis to strengthen risk mitigation and anticipate chain reactions should disruptions occur in one vital sector.
The meeting also addressed the ICANN87 agenda, the development of supporting technologies for cybersecurity, and opportunities for follow-up cooperation between BSSN and PANDI to strengthen the resilience of the national digital ecosystem.
BSSN Head Nugroho Sulistyo Budi appreciated PANDI’s visit and expressed hope that cooperation between the heads of these institutions would result in concrete steps to strengthen national cybersecurity.
“We appreciate PANDI’s visit and hope that with the new leadership, cooperation between BSSN and PANDI can continue to improve and produce concrete follow-up actions in strengthening national cybersecurity,” said Nugroho.
