As a mark of respect for the sovereignty of Pancasila and to commemorate Pancasila Sanctity Day on 1 October 2026, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia held a Commemoration Ceremony at the Pancasila Sakti Monument, Lubang Buaya, East Jakarta. The ceremony adopted the theme ‘Pancasulate as the Unifier of the Nation Towards a Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia’.

The ceremony was directly led by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, acting as the ceremony inspector. As part of the proceedings, the Chairman of the Regional Representative Council (DPRD) RI, Sultan B. Najamudin, served as the reader of the Pancasila text. Meanwhile, the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution was read by the Chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) RI, Ahmad Muzani, followed by the reading and signing of the pledge by the Chairman of the House of Representatives (DPR) RI, Puan Maharani.

In a cultural speech delivered separately via the Ministry of Culture’s YouTube channel, the Indonesian Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon, emphasised that the 2026 theme carries a message highly relevant to Indonesia’s current journey. He noted that the commemoration serves as a space for reflection on the nation’s history while looking towards Indonesia’s future.

Fadli further explained that Indonesia is currently facing rapid changes in global civilisation. The development of digital technology and artificial intelligence has transformed human working methods. Simultaneously, the world faces geopolitical dynamics, climate change, disinformation, and various forms of polarisation. Amidst these dynamics, Pancasila serves as both a value anchor and a compass for the Indonesian nation.

“Pancasila places Divinity as the moral foundation, humanity as the orientation, unity as the strength, deliberation as the path to togetherness, and social justice as our shared aspiration. These are the values that continue to accompany Indonesia’s journey through changing times. Pancasila lives alongside the nation’s journey and remains relevant in shaping Indonesia’s future,” Fadli stated in a written statement on Thursday (1/10/2026).

He expressed that under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto, Indonesia continues to move towards its great ambition of becoming a sovereign, just, and prosperous nation. He stated that these efforts are realised through the ability to determine one’s own future direction, providing opportunities and benefits for all Indonesian people, and utilising the nation’s potential and wealth for the welfare of the people.

“The foundation of all these aspirations is unity. Indonesian unity grows from our ability to nurture diversity and turn it into shared energy. We come from various ethnicities, regions, languages, religions, beliefs, customs, and traditions. All this diversity meets in one national identity: Indonesia. This is where Pancasula becomes the national meeting point,” he explained.

The 2026 Pancasila Sanctity Day ceremony was attended by President Prabowo Subianto, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, members of the Red and White Cabinet, the Chairpersons of the DPR, MPR, and DPD, the Commander of the TNI, the Chief of the National Police, officials from the Jakarta Provincial Government, families of the Revolution Heroes, ambassadors, and consuls of friendly nations.

To enliven the occasion, the choir from SMK Negeri 2 Cibinong and the EDCO orchestra performed an aubade featuring several national and regional songs.

Through this commemoration, Minister of Culture Fadli Zon expressed his hope that this momentum would strengthen unity, nurture diversity, and build optimism for Indonesia’s future. He noted that through unity and mutual cooperation (gotong royong), Indonesia can step forward more strongly and build collective progress.

“Amidst the changes in global civilisation, Indonesia possesses great capital: abundant resources, the strength of the youth, cultural diversity, and the values of Pancasila that have unified this nation’s journey. With Pancasila, we look towards a sovereign, just, and prosperous future for Indonesia,” Fadli concluded.
