Pancasila Foundation Day 2026 Commemoration Confirmed, BPIP Calls on All Regions to Hold Ceremonies

JAKARTA, VIVA – The Pancasila Ideology Building Body (BPIP) has confirmed that all preparations for the 2026 Pancasila Foundation Day commemoration are complete ahead of the national ceremony on 1 June. This year’s commemoration is not merely an annual ceremonial event, but a crucial opportunity to strengthen the application of Pancasila’s values in national life and governance. BPIP Head Yudian Wahyudi stated that the 2026 Pancasila Foundation Day commemoration carries the theme ‘Pancasila Unites the Nation, Foundation of World Peace’. He added that the theme underscores how Pancasila’s noble values are not only relevant for maintaining national unity but also serve as a foundation for global peace. ‘This commemoration is not just an annual ceremony, but a demonstration of our collective commitment to practicing Pancasila in societal, national, and state life,’ Yudian said on Friday, 29 May 2026. BPIP has also issued Chief’s Circular No. 2 of 2026 on Guidelines for the 2026 Pancasila Foundation Day Commemoration. The regulation serves as a reference for ceremonies across various institutions, including state bodies, ministries, TNI/Polri, regional governments, and educational institutions. ‘We urge all ministries, institutions, provincial, district, and city governments, down to village level, to hold Pancasila Foundation Day commemoration ceremonies simultaneously,’ he said. The national ceremony will be held in person on Monday, 1 June 2026 at 10:00 WIB at the Pancasila Building courtyard of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jakarta. Indonesia’s President is scheduled to attend in person and serve as the ceremony’s inspector. The Vice President, members of the Merah Putih Cabinet, former presidents and vice presidents, and several national figures will also attend. During the ceremony, several national institution leaders will have specific roles. The Speaker of the MPR will recite the Pancasila text, the Speaker of the DPD will read the 1945 Constitution preamble, and the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education will lead the prayer. BPIP has also prepared a special Paskibraka (National Flag Raising Troop) formation called ‘Pancasila Formation’, consisting of five groups symbolising the five principles of Pancasila. Additionally, dress codes for guests have been set. Male guests must wear formal civilian attire (PSL), female guests national dress, while TNI/Polri members will wear ceremonial uniform (PDU III).
