JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) held a Pancasila Day ceremony in front of the Merah Putih Building in Jakarta on Monday (1/6/2026). The ceremony, attended by all KPK staff, was led by KPK Deputy Chair Johanis Tanak.

In his speech, Johanis urged all elements of society, especially the youth as guardians of the future, to embrace Pancasila as a living ideology.

“Do not let these noble values become mere decorations on office walls or text in history books,” Johanis Tanak said, reading a statement from the Head of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP).

He said the theme for the 2026 Pancasila Day commemoration is “Pancasila, Unifier of the Nation, Foundation of World Peace,” a clear statement that Pancasila’s noble values are not only relevant for preserving Indonesia’s unity but also provide answers for achieving lasting world peace.

“Pancasila is a ‘guiding star’ that has proven its resilience. In a world marked by uncertainty and fragmentation threats, Indonesia remains steadfast as a tangible example of how diversity across over 17,000 islands and hundreds of ethnic groups can be united under a national bond. Pancasila is our ‘moral anchor’ in facing global turbulence, from technological disruption to geopolitical dynamics,” he said.

He added that, in accordance with the preamble of the 1945 Constitution, Indonesian society has a constitutional duty to contribute to global order based on independence, perpetual peace, and social justice.

Pancasila is the foundation of Indonesia’s active and free foreign policy, he said. The values of deliberation and consensus are crucial diplomatic tools needed today to bridge differences and end conflicts.

“As a great nation, we continue to demonstrate tangible leadership. Indonesia’s contributions to UN peacekeeping forces, our role in regional conflict mediation, and our consistent advocacy for justice for colonised nations embody the second principle: Just and Civilised Humanity. We want the world to see that peace is not merely the absence of war, but the presence of justice for all humanity,” he said.

“As long as Indonesian blood flows in our veins, Pancasila will always live in the heartbeat of every child of the Republic we love,” he concluded.
