Pancasila Day Commemoration: Megawati to Attend, SBY Absent
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – President Prabowo Subianto is expected to attend and serve as reviewing officer for the Pancasila Day commemoration at Gedung Pancasila Field, Jalan Taman Pejambon, Jakarta, on Monday, 1 June 2026.
Yudian Wahyudi, Head of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP), stated that the central Pancasila Day ceremony led by Prabowo will commence at exactly 10:00 WIB.
“The President of the Republic of Indonesia will attend in person and serve as reviewing officer. The ceremony will be held at Gedung Pancasila Field, Jalan Taman Pejambon, Jakarta,” Yudian said during a press conference at BPIP’s office in Jakarta on Friday, 29 May 2026.
“The general public and all government employees who have already held local ceremonies may follow the central ceremony via live streams on BPIP’s YouTube channel, Facebook page, Instagram account, or national television,” Yudian added.
BPIP has also invited former presidents and vice-presidents to attend the Pancasila Day commemoration on 1 June 2026.
However, BPIP’s Chief Secretary Tonny Agung Arifianto stated that they have not yet received confirmation on which former presidents and vice-presidents will attend.
“All former presidents and vice-presidents have been invited. We will confirm the list of attendees and inform the media by Saturday,” Tonny said at BPIP’s office in Jakarta on Friday, 29 May 2026.
PDI-P Central Executive Council Chairman Djarot Saiful Hidayat said PDI-P Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri is likely to attend the Pancasila Day commemoration.
“Insha Allah she will attend. Insha Allah she will attend. Please pray she has the time to be there,” Djarot said during a PDI-P regional legislative council training session on Saturday, 30 May 2026.
He urged the public to await further updates, adding that PDI-P will also hold its own Pancasila Day ceremony.
“The party will definitely hold its Pancasila Day ceremony at the Party School on 1 June. We’ll see tomorrow,” Djarot concluded.
Meanwhile, former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) is unlikely to attend the Pancasila Day commemoration.
