The Ministry of Culture held a flag ceremony at the Kemendikdasmen field in Senayan, Jakarta. The event served as a key moment to reaffirm the role of culture and diversity in maintaining national unity. Under the theme ‘Pancasila as the Unifier of the Nation, Foundation of World Peace’, the ceremony was jointly conducted with the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology. Culture Minister Fadli Zon stated that Pancasila’s anniversary reflects the founders’ awareness that Indonesia must be built on a foundation of unity. Through this commemoration, he reminded that Pancasila is not merely the state’s foundation but a national development guide and a source of values steering Indonesia through an ever-changing world. ‘Indonesia has weathered numerous historical trials, colonialism, ideological conflicts, economic crises, and increasingly complex geopolitical and global challenges. History records that when Nusantara was divided and its leaders weak, the nation’s wealth became a target for external forces. This is why Pancasila emerged—not just as the state’s foundation but as a unifying force and guide for safeguarding Indonesia’s sovereignty,’ Fadli stated in a written release on Monday (1 June 2026). Fadli further noted that historically, geographically, and culturally, Indonesia has a long human history built on the foundation of mega diversity or cultural pluralism. This diversity is not a divisive factor but a national strength reflecting tolerance and mutual cooperation, which underpin the values of Pancasila. He also explained that under President Prabowo Subianto’s leadership, Indonesia consistently applies a free and active foreign policy while strengthening national resilience through various priority programmes. To achieve this, the government has initiated human resource development rooted in Pancasila’s values to ensure national progress is felt by all segments of Indonesian society. ‘Domestically, Indonesia continues to bolster national resilience as a foundation for navigating global dynamics. This is realised through food security, strengthening people’s economy, industrial downstreaming, rural development, and government priority programmes such as Free Nutritious Meals, Red and White Village Cooperatives, and People’s Schools, all part of the nation’s broader development strategy,’ Fadli said. Fadli Zon also expressed hope that the 2026 Pancasila Birthday would ignite a spirit of mutual cooperation in building a united and culturally rich Indonesia. ‘Let us safeguard Pancasila and implement its values in national life. Let us bring forth a united, sovereign, just, and prosperous Indonesia, culturally distinctive and capable of making tangible contributions to humanity and world peace,’ he concluded.
