MEDAN, N. Sumatra (Antara): Two American and Japanese
companies, Sea Gate Corp and Panasonic, had expressed their
intention to build a plant at the Medan Industrial Estate (KIM)
in Mabar, North Sumatra.
The two companies are planning to build starting next month a
computer microchip plant in the 314-hectare industrial estate,
which is still being constructed, PT KIM president director, Papo
Hermawan, said here yesterday.
The new industrial estate, scheduled to be completed by the
end of the year, is located next to PT KIM's first estate. The
200-hectare estate is almost fully occupied.
PT KIM has earmarked Rp 83 billion (US$ 36.1 million) to build
infrastructure in the new estate, including Rp 50 billion ($21.7
million) for PT Perkebunan Nusantara (Nusantara Plantation) to
clear the land.
