Panasonic GOBEL Group Awards Scholarships to Outstanding Students

The Panasonic GOBEL Group has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Indonesian human resource development by awarding the Panasonic Scholarship Indonesia 2026, marking ‘70 Years of GOBEL Serving the Nation’. PT Panasonic Manufacturing Indonesia (PMI) President Director Tsutomu Ishihara stated that the best investment for the nation’s future is in education and the development of young talent. ‘The Panasonic GOBEL Group believes that Indonesia’s young generation has great potential to become future leaders,’ Ishihara said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday. ‘Through the Panasonic Scholarship, we aim to support students who not only excel academically but also possess integrity, leadership spirit, and a commitment to making a positive impact on society.’ The Panasonic Scholarship is a global corporate social responsibility programme first launched in 1998 to commemorate Panasonic Corporation’s 80th anniversary in Japan. It aims to provide scholarships to top students across Asia so they can contribute to their nations and act as ambassadors of friendship with Japan. As part of the ‘70 Years of GOBEL Serving the Nation’ journey, the group continues to deliver contributions that extend beyond technology to social impact. The programme has been running in Indonesia since 1999, with the number of recipients and levels of study growing each year. In 2026, 22 students were selected for postgraduate, undergraduate, and diploma programmes from leading Indonesian universities, based on academic achievement, leadership ability, commitment to self-development, family economic conditions, and future plans to contribute to society. The award ceremony coincided with PMI’s 56th anniversary celebrations and was attended by company management, university representatives, parents, and the awardees. Beyond financial support, the scholarship provides recipients with exposure to the corporate culture of the Panasonic GOBEL Group, the values of founders Drs. H. Thayeb Muhammad Gobel and Konosuke Matsushita, and direct insight into the industrial world. The annual programme reflects the group’s commitment to sustainable social contribution through educational development in Indonesia. Collaboration between the education sector and industry is seen as a crucial factor in preparing the younger generation to face global challenges and become agents of change for the benefit of Indonesian society.
