PAN Views Reporting of Saiful Mujani-Islah Bahrawi as the Right Step
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Chairman of the PAN Central Executive Board, Saleh Partaonan Daulay, considers the effort to report Saiful Mujani and Islah Bahrawi to the police as the right step, as many people feel disturbed by the invitation to consolidate in bringing down President Prabowo Subianto. According to him, the public can easily understand the alleged incitement because it was delivered publicly and recorded in full, which has spread on social media. Therefore, the report made is, he said, appropriate and in accordance with the provisions. “That invitation is highly potential to be misinterpreted. As a result, it is highly potential to cause uproar and disorder,” said Saleh in Jakarta on Friday. He is also confident that if the police watch the video, there will be many potential violation articles that can be found, whether considered as elements of defamation, hate speech, unpleasant acts, or calls to overthrow a legitimate government. He also does not deny that everyone has the right to speak publicly. However, if the speech is deemed disturbing and causes uproar, it can be reported to law enforcement authorities (APH) for examination. Therefore, he said this report cannot be taken lightly. The legal process, he said, must be continued because everyone has equal standing before the law. “The police should follow up on this report. That way, law enforcement applies to all, there should be no impression that if an activist is reported, it is not processed,” he said. On the other hand, he is confident that Prabowo has no issue with the speeches by Saiful Mujani and Islah Bahrawi. This is because he assesses that Prabowo is currently busy handling food self-sufficiency, procurement of new renewable energy, education, health, natural disasters, and various main programmes in the Astacita. “Even if reported (to Prabowo), he might just respond ordinarily. He might even just give a thin smile. Indicating that it is just a small obstacle that does not need to be exaggerated,” he said.
