Victims of the alleged Hajj and Umrah travel fraud by Hanania Travel have reached 1,286 people, with losses amounting to Rp 35.34 billion. Member of House of Representatives Commission III from the National Mandate Party (PAN) faction, Endang Agustina, is urging the police to investigate the case thoroughly.

“I request law enforcement officials to process this case to completion. This is a deeply inhumane act. When people wish to worship in the Holy Land, they are instead deceived by a travel operator that should be facilitating their worship,” Endang told reporters on Thursday (18/6/2026).

Endang is confident that law enforcement will not face difficulties in investigating the case until it becomes clear. She also highlighted allegations of money laundering by the travel company involving the victims’ funds.

“I think this case is not overly complicated, and I am confident our law enforcement, in this case investigators from the National Police and Polda Metro, will be able to shed full light on this matter. Investigators should not hesitate to apply money laundering articles, because we believe the funds of hundreds, even thousands, of prospective pilgrims have already been used by the perpetrator in various ways. Perhaps transferred, spent, used as capital for other businesses, and so on,” Endang stated.

Furthermore, Endang hopes that law enforcement and related institutions will cooperate to resolve this case promptly.

“I expect law enforcement in the DKI Jakarta region to begin working together to settle this case affecting so many people,” she said.

It was previously reported that the alleged Umrah travel fraud involving Han iania Travel continues to be investigated. A total of 1,286 people have been identified as victims, with losses reaching Rp 35,342,293,500.

“(The number of victims is) 1,286 persons, with a total nominal value of Rp 35,342,293,500,” said victims’ legal counsel, Joddy Mulyasetya Putra, to reporters at Polda Metro Jaya on Wednesday (17/6).

Joddy explained that the assembled victims were not only defrauded over Umrah trips but also Hajj pilgrimages. He said victims who had saved up to worship in the Holy Land had to swallow the bitter pill of being deceived by Hanania Travel.

“They had handed over money to Hanania. However, Hanania had not yet transferred the funds to the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH). The initial down payment had been deposited with Hanania but was not subsequently forwarded to BPKH, which should have been done,” he clarified.

Joddy added that the victims were enticed with Hajj and Umrah packages. However, until Hanania Travel’s operators were arrested by Polda Metro, the victims had not received their Hajj quota numbers.

“People who signed up for Hajj were told they would get a free Umrah in the month of Syawal. So those who registered for Hajj and paid a down payment were told ‘Register for Hajj Plus and get a free Umrah in Syawal’, but then they did not receive their quota number, their Hajj quota number was not obtained. Yet they were also supposed to be dispatched for Umrah, like that,” he explained.
