PAN Sleman Considers Legal Assistance for Raudi Akmal
The Regional Leadership Council (DPD) of the National Mandate Party (PAN) in Sleman has responded to the naming of local parliament member Raudi Akmal as a suspect in an alleged corruption case involving tourism grants for Sleman Regency in 2020. DPD PAN Sleman Chairman Raden Inoki Azmi Purnomo explained that the party has not yet decided whether to provide legal assistance to Raudi. “Not yet decided, we are still coordinating,” Inoki said when contacted on Tuesday (23/6/2026). “However, it is very possible that PAN will provide legal assistance as part of objective law enforcement,” added the member of the Yogyakarta Special Region DPRD’s Commission C.
Inoki stressed that PAN respects the ongoing legal process and encourages it to proceed transparently and objectively. Regarding Raudi Akmal’s position as a member of the Sleman DPRD, Inoki said the party will coordinate further on the potential for an inter-time replacement (PAW). “Regarding the position of Mr Raudi Akmal as a faction member and as a follow-up to the legal status attached to him, we are coordinating with the Provincial Board and Central Board to take steps in accordance with party regulations,” he stated.
Previously, the Sleman District Prosecutor’s Office named Raudi Akmal, a member of the Sleman Regency DPRD, as a suspect in the alleged corruption case involving the management of tourism grants in 2020. Raudi was immediately detained and taken to the Class II A Detention Centre in Yogyakarta, also known as Wirogunan Prison, on Monday evening (22/6). The confirmation of the suspect status for the son of former Sleman Regent Sri Purnomo was announced directly by Sleman Chief Prosecutor Bambang Yunianto. Raudi was named a suspect after failing to attend two prior summons for examination. He only appeared on the third summons and was immediately declared a suspect by investigators.
“Today, Monday 22 June 2026, investigators from the Sleman District Prosecutor’s Office have elevated the status of a witness and named him a suspect in the development of a case of alleged corruption involving irregularities in the management of tourism grant funds in Sleman Regency in 2020,” Bambang told reporters at the Sleman Prosecutor’s Office on Monday evening. “The individual is a witness with the initials RA. I repeat, a witness with the initials RA, who is a member of the Sleman Regency DPRD for the 2019-2024 and 2024-2029 periods,” he continued. Bambang explained that the case concerns the fact that in 2020, Sleman Regency received a grant from the Indonesian Ministry of Finance amounting to Rp68 billion for handling the COVID-19 pandemic and its impacts. This was based on Minister of Finance Regulation No. 46/PMK.07/2020 and Decree of the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy No. KM/694/PL.07.02/M-K/2020, which was amended by Decree No. KM/704/PL.07.02/M-K/2020 concerning Technical Guidelines for Tourism Grants in the Context of National Economic Recovery for Fiscal Year 2020. “Based on the development of the investigation conducted by the Sleman Prosecutor’s Office investigation team, active actions by suspect RA were found in the management of the Tourism Grant funds in Sleman Regency in 2020,” he stated.
