PAN Says 21-Day Fuel Stock Is Maintained, Urges Public Not to Panic-Buy
Aqib Ardiansyah of the PAN party, a member of the DPR’s Commission XII, urged the public to remain calm amid concerns over fuel stock following the spillover from tensions between the United States, Israel and Iran. He said Commission XII has monitored energy supply since before Ramadan and even went to the field to ensure that fuel and LPG distribution to the public remains safe.
“We have checked that Pertamina has prepared fuel with a national stock averaging 21 days; this is an operational stock that will be topped up as it is consumed, so the stock will be kept at 21 days. It does not mean that every day it decreases by one day, and it will not be exhausted on the 21st day,” he told reporters on Friday (6 March 2026).
He also urged the public not to panic and not to purchase fuel excessively, emphasising the need to cultivate energy-saving habits.
“The public is asked to stay calm and not panic-buy, and we will continue to promote a culture of energy conservation,” he added. “There is no need to buy in excess, because the energy stock is kept safe with a measured distribution approach.”
A number of residents in Aceh were observed queueing to buy fuel, carrying jerrycans of various sizes. Videos circulating on social media showed long queues at Aceh Tengah for SPBU and Pertashop purchases.
Not only at SPBU, residents were also buying large quantities from informal sellers, with many filling their containers. In Banda Aceh, queues were reported at five SPBU, affecting both motorcycles and cars and causing some traffic congestion as lines stretched onto main roads.
