PAN Removes Rejang Lebong Regent from Party Structure, Apologises After KPK Arrest Operation

The Central Leadership Council of the National Mandate Party (PAN) has removed Muhammad Fikri Thobari, Regent of Rejang Lebong, from his position as Chairman of the PAN Regional Leadership Council (DPD) for Rejang Lebong following an arrest and transfer operation (OTT) conducted by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

“The PAN Central Leadership Council has dismissed Muhammad Fikri Thobari from his party structural position. For the time being, the position of Chairman of the PAN Regional Leadership Council for Rejang Lebong has been taken over by the PAN Regional Leadership Council for Bengkulu,” stated Viva Yoga Mauladi, Deputy Chairman of the PAN Central Leadership Council, in a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Viva Yoga stated that PAN respects the legal process currently underway at the KPK. “We believe that law enforcement must proceed in a transparent, objective, and professional manner, in accordance with principles of justice,” he said.

Additionally, he stated that PAN has been committed since its inception to supporting the eradication of corruption in Indonesia.

As a result, PAN will continue to strengthen its cadre development system, enhance internal oversight, and ensure that all cadres entrusted with public positions can carry out the mandate of the people with full responsibility.

Viva Yoga stated that PAN apologised for the arrest of the Rejang Lebong Regent in the KPK operation. “We extend our apologies for this incident,” he said.
