PAN Mourns Passing of Senior Legislator A Bakri

The National Mandate Party (PAN) is mourning the loss of House of Representatives (DPR) member Ahmad Bakri. PAN Deputy Chairperson Viva Yoga Mauladi confirmed that Bakri passed away after being hospitalised since early May 2026. His condition reportedly deteriorated after attending a meeting. “After the meeting, Mas Bakri was perhaps exhausted. He had hypertension and then lost consciousness. He was treated in hospital for several months before he passed away,” Viva told reporters on Wednesday (29/7/2026). He added that Bakri was initially treated at Medistra Hospital in Gatot Subroto. Viva described Bakri as a senior PAN cadre who had been active since the party’s founding in 1998. He was known as a hard worker who was close to the community. “I interacted with him more frequently when we were both members of the DPR from 2009 until he fell ill. Mas Bakri was a militant, hardworking, loyal, kind-hearted, and humble cadre, beloved by the people of Jambi. The proof of the people’s love is that he was always elected in every election,” he said. PAN Chairperson Zulkifli Hasan also expressed his deep sense of loss, calling Bakri one of the party’s best cadres. “I, Zulkifli Hasan, Chairperson of the PAN Central Executive Board, feel the loss of one of PAN’s best cadres, H Bakri, a member of Commission V of the DPR RI and also one of the Chairpersons of the PAN Central Executive Board, who today passed away to return to the embrace of Allah SWT,” he stated. Zulkifli Hasan remembered the late Bakri as an exemplary cadre and a fighter who always brought the aspirations of the people, especially those in Jambi, to be turned into government programmes. He prayed for the deceased and for strength for the family left behind.
