PAN Fully Supports Prabowo’s International Geopolitical Stance
The General Chairman of the National Mandate Party (PAN), Zulkifli Hasan (Zulhas), fully supports the geopolitical stance adopted by President Prabowo Subianto on the international stage. He emphasised that the party believes in all political actions taken by the government in accordance with the 1945 Constitution in order to maintain world order. This includes, he said, Indonesia’s move to join the Board of Peace (BoP) initiated by the United States.
“We fully support Mr Prabowo’s steps to participate, as mandated by the constitution to maintain world order,” he said at a Ramadan breaking-fast event with the PAN Central Executive Board, on Friday (6 March).
“In principle, it’s better for us to be involved, to take part in the decision, rather than be outside and unable to do anything,” he added.
Zulhas acknowledged that efforts to bring about peace in Palestine are not easy. However, he considers that all avenues must be pursued to stop Israel’s attacks in Gaza.
“Therefore there is an effort to stop what Israel is doing in Gaza, right? An effort. It is not easy either but there must be effort, otherwise we’d just be angry and shouting.”
On the other hand, Zulhas also supported the President’s move to position himself as a mediator between Iran, Israel, and the United States.
He even noted that Indonesia’s mediation efforts have been welcomed by Pakistan. Therefore, Zulhas believes Indonesia is on the right track.
“The President is trying, and he has even received support from Pakistan to mediate, to bridge. We try, even if the chances may be slim, but we are trying something,” he said.
