PAN Dismisses Langkat Regent Syah Afandin Following KPK Sting Operation
The National Mandate Party (PAN) has asserted that the legal case involving Langkat Regent Syah Afandin is a personal responsibility and not a reflection of the party. PAN Deputy Chairman Viva Yoga Mauladi expressed sadness and concern over the alleged corruption, stating it contradicts the party’s platform and struggle for clean governance. ‘PAN fully respects the legal process being carried out by the KPK professionally, objectively, and transparently,’ Mauladi said. He noted that PAN Chairman Zulkifli Hasan consistently reminds party cadres in executive and legislative bodies to uphold integrity and comply with the law. The party has deactivated Syah Afandin from his position as Chairman of PAN’s North Sumatra Regional Leadership Council. The KPK previously conducted a sting operation, arresting Afandin and seizing hundreds of millions of rupiah in cash. The alleged bribery is linked to various projects within the Langkat Education Agency and the Housing and Settlement Area Agency.
