The corruption case involving tourism grants from the Sleman Regency Government has implicated Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD) member Raudi Akmal. The son of former Sleman Regent Sri Purnomo has been named a suspect in the case dating back to 2020. Regarding Akmal’s position in the legislature, the Regional Leadership Council (DPD) of the National Mandate Party (PAN) in Sleman Regency has spoken out. Chairman of PAN Sleman DPD, Raden Inoki Azmi Purnomo, stated that his party will coordinate with the Provincial Leadership Council (DPW) and the Central Leadership Council (DPP) concerning Raudi Akmal’s fate. “Regarding the position of brother Raudi Akmal as a faction member and as a follow-up to the legal status attached to brother RA, we are coordinating with the DPW and DPP to take steps in accordance with party rules,” he said when contacted on Tuesday (23/6/2026). Meanwhile, concerning the legal case ensnaring Raudi, Inoki said his party has not yet decided whether to provide legal assistance for Raudi or not. “Not yet (decided whether to provide legal assistance), we are still coordinating,” Inoki explained. “(But) It is very possible that PAN will provide legal assistance as part of objective law enforcement,” added the member of Commission C of the Yogyakarta Special Region DPRD. Inoki also emphasised that PAN respects the ongoing law enforcement process. His party also encourages the legal process to proceed transparently and objectively. As previously reported, the Sleman District Prosecutor’s Office (Kejari) named Sleman Regency DPRD member Raudi Akmal as a suspect in the alleged corruption case of the 2020 Sleman Regency tourism grant. After being named a suspect, Raudi was immediately detained and taken to the Class II A Detention Centre Yogyakarta, also known as Wirogunan Prison, on Monday (22/6) evening. The confirmation of the suspect designation for the son of former Sleman Regent Sri Purnomo was announced directly by Sleman Chief Prosecutor Bambang Yunianto. Previously, Raudi had twice failed to appear for examination by investigators. On the third summons, Raudi appeared and was immediately named a suspect by investigators. “Today, Monday, 22 June 2026, investigators from the Sleman District Prosecutor’s Office have elevated the status of a witness and named him as a suspect in the development of the alleged criminal case of corruption involving irregularities in the management of tourism grant funds in Sleman Regency in 2020,” said Bambang while providing information to journalists at the Sleman Prosecutor’s Office on Monday evening. “The witness with the initials RA. I repeat, the witness with the initials RA who is a member of the Sleman Regency DPRD for the 2019 to 2024 period and the 2024 to 2029 period,” he continued. Bambang added that the case’s position is that in 2020, Sleman Regency received a grant from the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia amounting to IDR 68 billion for handling the COVID-19 pandemic and its impacts. This was stipulated in the Minister of Finance Regulation No. 46/PMK.07/2020 and the Decree of the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy No: KM/694/PL.07.02/M-K/2020, which was amended by Decree No: KM/704/PL.07.02/M-K/2020 concerning Technical Guidelines for Tourism Grants in the Context of National Economic Recovery for Fiscal Year 2020. “From the results of the investigation development carried out by the Sleman District Prosecutor’s Office Investigation Team, active actions by suspect RA were found in the management of the Tourism Grant Funds in Sleman Regency in 2020,” he said.
