PAN Deputy Chairman Asks JK to Deliver Suggestions and Criticism Directly to Prabowo

Deputy Chairman of the PAN Central Executive Board, Saleh Partaonan Daulay, has called on former Vice President of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla (JK), to convey suggestions and criticism directly to President Prabowo Subianto as an effort to strengthen constructive communication within the government.

Saleh stated that the space for dialogue between the President and various elements of society has been wide open, including for national figures to express their views directly.

“Prabowo is very pleased to hear suggestions and criticism. In fact, he often invites various figures to discuss at the Palace,” he said in his statement on Saturday, 11 April 2026.

Saleh explained that the forum involves various groups, from bureaucrats, clerics, academics, to activists and the mass media, reflecting the government’s openness to public aspirations. He assessed that delivering criticism directly would be more effective and impactful.

“I think if Mr JK stops by the Palace, everyone hopes that he conveys suggestions, input, and constructive criticism. Speaking directly with the President will certainly be easier to implement. Especially from someone of Mr JK’s stature,” he said.

He also emphasised that JK’s capacity and experience are valuable in providing strategic input for the government.

“Mr JK is a great figure. He not only masters business but also deeply understands politics and bureaucracy. Not only recognised domestically but also internationally,” he said.

Saleh assessed that delivering criticism directly would be more appropriate for a figure with JK’s position and experience, thereby encouraging more concrete solutions. He affirmed that criticism remains important in democracy, but it must be conveyed in a constructive manner and in the appropriate context.

“I think if Mr JK stops by the Palace, everyone hopes that he conveys suggestions, input, and constructive criticism,” he stated.

This step is seen as capable of strengthening synergy between the government and societal figures in maintaining the quality of democracy and promoting policies that are responsive to public needs. (ANT)
