JAKARTA, KOMPAS.COM – Zulkifli Hasan, the General Chairman of the National Mandate Party (PAN), popularly known as Zulhas, has voiced full support for President Prabowo Subianto’s efforts to play an active role in maintaining world order and responding to global conflicts. Zulhas argued that Indonesia should be involved in efforts to resolve international conflicts in accordance with the Constitution rather than merely watching from the outside. ‘We also fully support Pak Prabowo’s steps to participate in accordance with the Constitution, to help maintain world order. The principle is we are better involved in decision-making than standing outside, unable to do anything,’ he said at PAN’s Central Leadership Council (DPP) building in South Jakarta on Friday night (6 March 2026).

According to Zulhas, Indonesia should strive to push for the cessation of the conflict, even though the path would not be easy. ‘Therefore there are efforts to stop what Israel is doing in Gaza. Of course it’s not easy, but there must be endeavour. If not, will we just be angry?’ He pointed to ‘the wars in Pakistan and Afghanistan, the unresolved issues in Thailand and Cambodia, the Russia–Ukraine conflict, and most weighty of all, the combined actions of the United States, Israel, and Iran’ that would have wide-ranging impacts.

Zulhas added that President Prabowo has even gained support from Pakistan to attempt to mediate the conflict, bridging between sides. ‘The President is trying, and has even received support from Pakistan to mediate, to bridge. Although perhaps the opportunity is small, but we are trying something. We fully support,’ he said.

He warned that the escalation of international conflicts could affect global stability. ‘Even though we are far away, it will certainly have impacts in various countries including Indonesia,’ he said. He argued that the unsettled global situation requires Indonesia to safeguard national stability and strengthen unity. ‘Therefore, first we need stability, we need unity to face a world that is uncertain,’ he added.
