Pamekasan Provides Proactive Assistance to Fishery Businesses for Halal Certification

The Pamekasan Regency Government in East Java is providing assistance for the issuance of halal certificates using a proactive outreach system to fishery businesses in the region. Abdul Fata, Head of the Pamekasan Marine and Fisheries Office, stated on Friday that this initiative is intended to ensure all fishery businesses possess halal certification to improve their economy. Currently, there are 725 fishery business units in Pamekasan, comprising processing and marketing enterprises. Approximately 90 per cent of these have received guidance on the procedures for obtaining halal certificates, and 422 business units have already been certified. The office is continuing to maximise its assistance role, particularly for fishery businesses that have not yet obtained certification. Fata explained that besides being a requirement for business sustainability, halal certification is part of an effort to enhance competitiveness and provide opportunities for business growth. He added that having a halal certificate opens up greater opportunities for market expansion, which in turn automatically improves sales results. Another advantage for fishery businesses that have obtained halal certification is easier access to business capital.
