PAM Jaya reminds residents to clean water tanks at least every two weeks
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Perumda PAM Jaya is reminding residents receiving free water tanks to routinely perform maintenance every two weeks to keep the stored water clean and safe for use. “Maintenance is important. At least every two weeks, the provided tanks should be checked and cleaned,” said PAM Jaya’s Director General, Arief Nasrudin, during the handover of free water tanks to residents in RT 12/RW 08, Pulogebang, East Jakarta, on Thursday. Arief explained that although the water stored in the tanks is relatively safe, if sediment is left for too long, it can lead to the emergence of larvae or other dirt. “I’m worried there might be larvae or anything else, so it’s best to clean them regularly to make them safer,” Arief stated. In addition to maintaining cleanliness, the use of tanks is also seen as helping the community to have water reserves when PAM distribution pressure decreases during peak hours. This free water tank assistance programme is part of strengthening household clean water services carried out by PAM Jaya in collaboration with TP PKK DKI Jakarta. In the Pulogebang area itself, hundreds of tanks are starting to be distributed to both long-standing and new PAM Jaya customers. Arief hopes that this assistance can increase public awareness of the importance of better and healthier household water management. Meanwhile, Perumda PAM Jaya targets the distribution of up to 5,000 free water tanks to Jakarta residents throughout 2026 as part of strengthening clean water services. Arief is optimistic that the water tank assistance programme will continue to increase throughout 2026. Moreover, if the realisation runs quickly, PAM Jaya targets the distribution of up to 1,000 tanks in each Jakarta region by the end of the year. To date, 1,000 tanks have been distributed to the community in five Jakarta regions, including in RT 12/RW 08, Pulogebang Village, Cakung Subdistrict, East Jakarta.
