PAM Jaya Encourages Residents to Use Water Tanks for Water Reserves
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Perumda PAM Jaya is encouraging the public to implement household water management through the use of water tanks as reserves, particularly during peak usage hours.
“Sometimes, during peak times, PAM experiences shortages or loss of pressure in the furthest areas. So, we are providing water tanks so that they have a water reserve,” said PAM Jaya’s President Director, Arief Nasrudin, during the handover of free water tanks to residents’ homes in RT 12/RW 08, Pulogebang, East Jakarta, on Thursday.
Arief explained that current water usage patterns among the public differ from those in the past. In the old days, residents were accustomed to having their own water storage, but now many households rely solely on direct flow from pipes.
According to him, water consumption typically increases in the morning before work activities and in the evening until night when people return from activities.
“Usually, from dawn and in the evening, water usage is very high. With water tanks, residents won’t be too dependent on the times when water is flowing,” said Arief.
He assessed that using water tanks is a simple yet effective solution for creating more efficient and economical household water management.
The free water tank assistance programme currently targets both long-term and new PAM Jaya customers. However, most recipients are long-term customers as part of strengthening clean water distribution services.
In the Pulogebang area, 357 water tanks have been prepared for residents. Distribution is being carried out in stages because the procurement and distribution processes are being accelerated.
“We are guerrilla-distributing this assistance because the procurement of the water tanks is also being sped up,” said Arief.
Meanwhile, Perumda PAM Jaya targets the distribution of up to 5,000 free water tanks to Jakarta residents throughout 2026 as part of strengthening clean water services.
Arief is optimistic that the water tank assistance programme will continue to increase throughout 2026. Moreover, if realisation proceeds quickly, PAM Jaya targets distributing up to 1,000 tanks in each Jakarta region by the end of the year.
To date, 1,000 water tanks have been distributed to the public in five Jakarta regions, including in RT 12/RW 08, Pulogebang Village, Cakung District, East Jakarta.
Arief hopes that this clean water infrastructure development can bring significant changes to the quality of life for Jakarta’s residents in the future.
