PAM Jaya Deploys Water Tankers During Network Maintenance

Jakarta’s water utility PAM Jaya has deployed mobile water tankers to areas affected by a temporary supply shutdown due to maintenance work. The company is also installing temporary water tanks with capacities of 5,000 litres and 1,000 litres at several locations, including Cengkareng in West Jakarta. PAM Jaya’s Director of Operations, Syahrul Hasan, stated that the maintenance of the Hutan Kota water treatment plant is a crucial step to ensure the long-term reliability of the piped drinking water service. He assured that the company is striving to provide emergency water assistance throughout the maintenance period, which is currently being carried out by PT Jakarta Utilitas Propertindo. In addition to the tankers, PAM Jaya is offering special compensation to affected customers who hold the Kartu Air Sehat, in the form of a reduction on their current month’s water bill of up to Rp50,000. Syahrul apologised for any inconvenience caused and said the company is optimising the work process so that piped water distribution can return to normal as quickly as possible. He urged customers needing assistance or further information to contact the PAM Jaya Call Centre. Previously, residents in the Cengkareng area had begun making preparations for the water shutdown, which is scheduled from Friday (17/7) to Wednesday (22/7). One resident, Yanti, said she had filled all available containers in her home, including buckets and empty gallon jugs, as she does not have a water tower. She hopes the outage will not last the full duration due to daily urgent water needs and plans to purchase water from mobile vendors or request it from a local prayer room that still uses groundwater if her supply runs out.
