Jakarta (ANTARA) - Daya Wanita PAM Jaya, together with Women and Children Resilience (WCR), has carried out a Smart Nutrition Education and Water Resilience programme for stunting prevention in Jakarta.

PAM Jaya President Director Arief Nasrudin said in Jakarta on Thursday that the involvement of Daya Wanita PAM Jaya is an important part of an approach that more directly reaches families.

"Efforts to reduce stunting cannot be done alone and cannot rely on just one approach," he said.

Through the role of Daya Wanita PAM Jaya, the DKI Jakarta regional-owned enterprise aims to be closer to mothers, sharing knowledge about nutrition and the importance of clean water. "Because it is within the family that the future of Jakarta's children is shaped," Arief said.

Through this collaboration, Daya Wanita PAM Jaya hopes to continue being part of a community movement that cares about child nutrition and water resilience, whilst strengthening the role of women in building healthy families and more empowered communities.

WCR Chairwoman Margaretha Hanita said the next generation is in a golden period that is highly determinative. "We certainly hope that children grow with positive support, both in terms of nutrition, environment, and parenting," she said.

The programme has been carried out at three locations in North Jakarta, namely at the Semper Timur sub-district office hall, Penjaringan sub-district, and Rorotan sub-district, with participants comprising PKK mothers, Dasawisma members, and Posyandu cadres.

According to Margaretha, educating mothers is a crucial starting point because it is from there that the quality of future generations is shaped, which will ultimately influence the direction of the nation going forward.

Through the education sessions, participants were invited to understand the importance of the "Smart Nutrition" concept, particularly the fulfilment of animal protein from an early age, as a key to children's physical growth and brain development.

Beyond that, the programme also emphasised that stunting prevention cannot be separated from sanitation and water resilience aspects.

Adequate access to clean water forms the foundation of a healthy environment, protecting children from infectious diseases that can inhibit nutrient absorption.
