PAM JAYA and Jakarta Provincial Government Earn MURI Record for 206,513 Drinking Water Pipe Connections
PAM JAYA, together with the Jakarta Provincial Government, has secured a record from the Indonesian World Records Museum (MURI) for the ‘Most Drinking Water Pipe Connections to Customers in One Year’. The award recognises the addition of 206,537 house connections throughout 2025 and was presented during the Jakarta Water Hero (JWH) 2026 event held at Jakarta City Hall.
PAM JAYA President Director Arief Nasrudin stated that this achievement demonstrates the company’s accelerated efforts to expand piped drinking water services to meet the needs of Jakarta’s residents. He emphasised that expanding service coverage is not solely about increasing customer numbers but is also part of a broader effort to achieve water security and equitable access to clean water for all citizens.
‘Through the theme “From Real Action, Into a Collective Movement”, we aim to invite all parties to continue strengthening collaboration in supporting water security, equitable services, and the acceleration of the 100 per cent piped drinking water service coverage target in Jakarta. We believe every contribution will bring great benefits for Jakarta’s future,’ Arief said in a written statement on Saturday.
The MURI record also marks the success of PAM JAYA in accelerating its network expansion programme amidst the ambitious target of achieving 100 per cent service coverage for all Jakarta residents, as stipulated in Jakarta Gubernatorial Regulation Number 48 of 2025. The award coincided with the fourth annual JWH event, a programme first launched by PAM JAYA in 2023.
In addition to receiving the MURI award, PAM JAYA presented a total of 119 awards to customers, communities, businesses, ministries and agencies, regional apparatus, and various stakeholders. These awards recognised contributions to the use of piped water, water resource conservation, and the equitable distribution of piped drinking water services in Jakarta.
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung welcomed the JWH 2026 event, which forms part of the celebrations for Jakarta’s 499th anniversary. He expressed gratitude to PAM JAYA and voiced hope that the event would provide meaning and spirit for the company to fulfil its targets and commitments. The Governor also announced a series of upcoming anniversary activities, including traffic arrangements on Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin and a special fare of Rp1 for all Jakarta government-managed transport, alongside free entry to recreational facilities such as Ancol, Ragunan, Monas, museums, and sports venues.
