Palu Prosecutor's Office opens free legal consultation service

The Palu District Prosecutor’s Office (Kejari Palu) in Central Sulawesi has opened a free legal consultation service for the public at coffee shops on weekends.

Head of the Civil and State Administrative Section (Kasidatun) of Kejari Palu, Irwanto, said on Saturday that the outreach-based service was carried out to bring legal services closer to the community.

“We want to make it easier for residents to obtain information and initial assistance regarding various legal issues without having to come directly to the prosecutor’s office,” he said.

“Through this activity, we want to provide convenience to the public in obtaining free legal consultation and information,” he stressed.

He explained that the consultation covers various matters, including civil law, criminal law, state administrative law, as well as other legal issues requiring initial explanation or direction.

The outreach-based activity is also one of the ways Kejari Palu is expanding its service reach. The public does not have to wait or come to the prosecutor’s office just to obtain information about the legal issues they are facing.

A resident named Norma said she was helped by the free legal consultation service. According to her, activities like this provide an opportunity for the public to convey the problems they are facing while also receiving explanations from those who understand the legal field.

“This is very helpful because we can ask directly and get explanations about the legal issues we are facing,” she said.
