Palu legislators agree to report wealth

PALU, Central Sulawesi: Less than 45 Central Sulawesi legislators agreed to report their wealth to the State Officials' Wealth Audit Commission (KPKPN) after refusing to do so for almost a year.

Central Sulawesi Legislative Council speaker Nasir said on Friday that the provincial councillors would submit their wealth reports to KPKPN at the end of this year at the latest.

"This action is purely our initiative, not because of any pressure from particular parties," he claimed.

Previously, he explained, local councillors were under the impression that only central government officials were subject to the wealth report procedures.

"But, afterward we realized it was necessary for us to inform the commission about our assets to help crack down on collusion, corruption, and nepotism," he said. --Antara
