Palu Government to Mediate Dispute Over Roadside Pork Stall

The Palu City Government in Central Sulawesi has intervened to mediate a controversy over a suckling pig stall that was stormed by residents because it stood out on the roadside. The stall owner and local residents were due to meet tonight, but the session was postponed because residents wished to consolidate first.

“Yes, the mediation was supposed to be tonight, but residents asked for it to be postponed because they are still consolidating. The mediation will be carried out soon,” said the Head of Mantikilore Sub-district, Risdianto, quoted by detikSulsel on Tuesday (4/8/2026).

The mediation is being held to bring both parties together to find a solution to the controversy that has emerged. Risdianto said the mediation will involve government officials at the village and sub-district levels, along with residents and the business owner.

“Yes, the mediation will bring the stall owner to the table. We are seeking the best solution,” he said.

The government hopes the matter can be resolved through dialogue without triggering prolonged conflict. Risdianto urged the public to exercise restraint and prioritise deliberation in responding to the issue.

“I appeal to all residents to approach this matter with a cool head and prioritise deliberation. Of course, we must consider all the aspects involved. This issue must not end up harming us all,” he explained.
