The Palu City Government launched the e-Library Palu Mapande on Thursday (4/6). The launch was carried out symbolically by the Expert Staff for Economy and Development of Palu City, Nathan Pagasongan, representing the Mayor of Palu. The event, organised by the Palu City Archives and Library Service, took place in the office meeting room and was attended by government officials, literacy activists, educators, and various elements of the community.

Nathan expressed appreciation for the digital library service innovation, which expands public access to sources of knowledge. According to him, the development of information technology has changed the way people obtain information and knowledge. Through digital services, the public can now access various reading materials without being limited by space and time.

“e-Library Palu Mapande is a strategic step that meets the current needs of society. Through this application, the public can access a collection of digital books easily, quickly, and flexibly anytime and anywhere,” he stated. In addition to providing a diverse collection of digital books, the application is also equipped with features that support reading and online learning comfort.

Nathan emphasised that strengthening digital literacy is an important part of human resource development. Therefore, the Palu City Government continues to encourage the use of technology to improve the culture of reading and learning within society. Through the e-Library Palu Mapande, people from various circles, ranging from students, university students, teachers, civil servants, MSMEs, to the general public, have wider opportunities to obtain reading materials and increase their knowledge.

He explained that the name ‘Palu Mapande’ reflects hope for a generation of Palu City residents who are smart, creative, innovative, and able to compete in the global era. Nathan also invited regional agencies, schools, literacy communities, and parents to utilise the application and cultivate reading activities in daily life. According to him, literacy is not only related to reading ability but also the ability to understand information, think critically, and produce solutions to various challenges.

The launch of the e-Library Palu Mapande is a new step in strengthening digital literacy in Palu City. The presence of this service is expected to provide easier, more modern, and inclusive reading access for the entire community.
