The Palu City Government in Central Sulawesi is joining forces with the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) to support the implementation of various regional development programmes. Palu Mayor Hadianto Rasyid explained on Wednesday that the city government will hand over a list of 88 government programmes to ITB for study and mapping according to the university’s areas of expertise. “We will submit 88 Palu City Government programmes. From these 88 programmes, ITB is welcome to map out which areas it would like to enter and what form of cooperation is needed regarding the implementation of these programmes,” he said. According to Hadianto, this step is being taken so that the collaboration can be more focused, targeted, and provide tangible benefits for accelerating regional development. He added that his administration will await input from ITB on which programmes can be pursued collaboratively. “After that, we will share the complete details of the 88 programmes so they can be communicated further and directly focused on the form of collaboration to be carried out,” Hadianto stated. The collaboration aims to support the implementation of the regional government’s strategic programmes designed for Palu’s future development. The city’s 88 programmes represent the accumulation of development plans drafted since the first term of Hadianto Rasyid’s leadership from 2021 to 2024, consisting of 53 programmes, which were then continued into the 2025-2030 second term with an additional 35 priority programmes. The 53 first-term programmes cover various sectors including the economy, social and population affairs, infrastructure, bureaucracy and finance, basic services encompassing education and health, and the environment. Meanwhile, the 35 programmes for the second term are focused on human resource development, economic strengthening, urban development, the environment, improving basic services, and governance. The Mayor said that through this partnership with ITB, his administration hopes to obtain academic support, scientific studies, technological innovation, and mentoring to strengthen the implementation of various development programmes, realising a ‘steady and sustainable Palu’ that is accelerated, innovative, and collaborative. The city will await ITB’s response to move forward with the collaboration.
