Palm Oil Product Exports Rise 9.51 Per Cent in 2025
Total palm oil product exports in 2025 reached 32.343 million tonnes, representing a 9.51 per cent increase compared with 2024 exports of 29.535 million tonnes, according to Hadi Sugeng Wahyudi, secretary-general of the Indonesian Palm Oil Producers Association (GAPKI). The largest export growth occurred in processed palm oil products.
Processed palm oil exports rose to 22.727 million tonnes from 20.451 million tonnes in the previous year. “Processed palm kernel oil exports increased to 1.560 million tonnes from 1.262 million tonnes,” Hadi said at a press conference on the 2025 Palm Oil Industry Performance and 2026 Outlook held at the Shangri-La Jakarta on Thursday afternoon, 12 March 2026.
GAPKI recorded that oleochemical exports also increased to 5.076 million tonnes from 4.796 million tonnes, whilst crude palm oil (CPO) exports rose marginally to 2.964 million tonnes from 2.916 million tonnes.
By destination market, the 2025 export increases included Africa, which rose by 991,000 tonnes, followed by China with 644,000 tonnes, Malaysia with 516,000 tonnes, Bangladesh with 503,000 tonnes, and Pakistan with 214,000 tonnes.
Conversely, export declines occurred for India at 859,000 tonnes, the European Union at 97,000 tonnes, and the United States at 15,000 tonnes.
In value terms, palm oil product exports in 2025 reached US$35.87 billion or approximately IDR 590 trillion, representing a 29.23 per cent increase compared with 2024 exports valued at US$27.76 billion or approximately IDR 440 trillion.
Hadi stated that the increase in export value was driven not only by growth in volume but also by rising average prices. The average CIF Rotterdam price in 2025 stood at US$1,221 per tonne, higher than the 2024 average price of US$1,084 per tonne.
With developments in production, consumption, and exports, the closing stock of CPO and palm kernel oil (PKO) in 2025 was recorded at 2.068 million tonnes, a 19.79 per cent decline compared with the 2024 closing stock of 2.577 million tonnes.
