Palm Oil Derivatives from Soap, Cosmetics, to Baby Formula Milk
Not many people realise that the oil palm plant plays a very broad role and provides immense benefits in daily life. Palm oil is present in various products used by society from morning until night. Founder of Olenka Kreasi Festival, Edy Nurmansyah, stated that the contribution of palm oil is vast and integrated into various products used by the public. “Palm oil derivatives colour 24 hours of people’s daily lives in various household and personal care needs,” said Edy in a press release in Jakarta on Thursday (23/4/2026). “From soap, shampoo, and detergent, to cosmetic products, margarine, bread, creamer, and even baby formula milk, everything is inseparable from the palm oil industry’s contribution,” said Edy in a speech at the Sawit on Town (SWOT) event initiated by Olenka together with the Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP). Held at Taman Plaza, Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium, Bekasi City, West Java, on Sunday (19/4/2026), the event serves as interactive and grounded palm oil education amidst the community. It is this awareness that is intended to be built through a light and enjoyable educational approach. According to Edy, this understanding is important so that society no longer views palm oil merely as an industrial commodity. “Sawit on Town is our form of support for BPDP, which contributes greatly to the development of the palm oil industry and Indonesia’s economy. Moreover, palm oil is present in our daily lives, including as a cosmetic ingredient,” he said.
