Palladium Global Science Award 2026 Opens Registration for New Palladium Applications
Shanghai, ANTARA/PRNewswire - The Palladium Global Science Award has launched the second edition of its international scientific competition for the development of new palladium applications, with total prize money of US$350,000. Registration opens from 2 March to 31 July 2026 via the website palladiumaward.com. The Palladium Global Science Award was established in 2025 as a global platform to identify and support scientific and technological breakthroughs that utilise palladium—the metal with unique catalytic activity, hydrogen absorption capability, resistance to oxidation, high electrical conductivity, and certain magnetic properties. The award is presented to significant innovations, scientific articles, and applied concepts that utilise palladium in new ways so that technology becomes more efficient, has higher economic value, and is ready for industrial-scale deployment. The competition will select five winners across three categories: Best Scientific Development, Best Scientific Article, and Best Applied Concept. All scientific works will be evaluated by an International Panel of Experts comprising eminent scientists and researchers from universities and research centres worldwide. The China Precious Metals Industry Committee will be a partner for this international scientific competition. “The second edition of the Palladium Global Science Award has great significance amidst the rising global demand for innovative technology. Palladium possesses extraordinary properties that foster the development of innovative solutions in fields such as energy, chemistry, medicine, green technology, and the high-tech industry. The award aims to identify and support scientists and researchers whose work not only stays in the laboratory but can transform industry and help build the landscape of future technology,” said Professor Francis Verpoort, Chair of the International Advisory Board of the Palladium Global Science Award. In 2025, the competition received 100 proposals from more than 30 countries. Five scientists from Canada, Japan, India, the United States, and Saudi Arabia were awarded for projects spanning organic chemistry, drug development, environmentally friendly methanol production, and water purification. In this second edition, organisers expect participation and interest from various countries to increase further. The competition is open to scientists, researchers, engineers, startups, and research and development teams from around the world.
